Simplified layout All support functions-oil and water pumps, coolers, filters, and safety and regulator valves have been collected in a single front-box for easy accessibility and maintenance. Pipeless design All these functions are linked to the internal oil and water circuits without pipes. Overall, the number of components has been reduced by no less than 40%.Fewer sensitive components means even greater reliability. Separate cylinder units Each complete cylinder assembly-head, piston, cylinder liner and con-rod can be removed as a unit for easy maintenance or replacement. |

Self-controlling cooling-water system A patented single-string system both ensures optimal combustion conditions from idle to full load and eliminates internal condensation. Improved noise and vibration insulation The engine mounts have been specially designed to reduce virbration to a minimum and very effective sound insulation has been incorporated. Full compatibility with MAN B&W main engines The L16/24 and its support system have been designed to be fully compatible with MAN B&W proplusion engines, permitting an intergrated approach to engine-room design in terms of fuel-oil supply, cooling water and starting-air systems.
